Aero launched production of the first L-39NGs
In recent weeks, the production of new parts for L-39NG aircraft, the new generation of the legendary Albatros, has been fully launched in Aero Vodochody. The key project of Aero Vodochody and its partner Omnipol, has thus entered the next phase. The largest Czech aircraft manufacturer plans to produce the total of four L-39NGs at this stage – three prototypes and one pre-serial aircraft.Read more >
The first complete L-39NG aircraft with a new certification should be ready at the end of 2019 and the first customer deliveries can then begin in 2020. "All around the world, there are still about 60 users of L-39 aircraft and about 600 of L-39s are still in operation. These older aircraft will need to be gradually replaced by the new ones, so we believe the new generation of L-39 has a great potential to succeed in the market," said the President of Aero, Giuseppe Giordo.
The new generation of the aircraft maintains the best features of its predecessor - low operation cost, high reliability, easy logistics and great flying capabilities - and those characteristics combines with modern avionics, newly developed engine from Williams International and many other enhancements. There are about 800 new parts of L-39NG currently in the production; further 800 parts are taken from the original Albatros.
Out of the four aircraft built during this production phase, the first one will serve as a flight prototype, two are designed for structural and fatigue tests, and the fourth one should be delivered to the first customer. "We are currently intensively negotiating with potential customers. A number of countries of the existing L-39 users has shown serious interest, as well as other countries that in the upcoming years expect the necessary generational replacement of their training jet air squadron," added the President of Aero, Giuseppe Giordo.

Austria, Bangladesh, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Lithuania, Mozambique, Nigeria, Slovakia, Thailand, Tunisia and Uganda – representatives of these countries arrived in AERO to share their experience with the L-39 Albatros jet trainer. The 1st L-39 Users’ Group Conference was held under auspices of the Czech Air Force. The former Air Force Commander Brigadier General Libor Štefánik as well as the representatives of AERO and Omnipol held a speech during the conference.
Giuseppe Giordo, the president and CEO of AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE appreciated the value of this meeting. “The legacy of the L-39 Albatros is a big commitment for us. We would be happy if this conference was a start of a long-lasting relationship with the users of this remarkable aircraft from all over the world. I believe together we can write the next successful chapter of this marvelous machine,” said Giordo.
The aim of the meeting was not only the celebration of past successes of the aircraft, but also the future outlook of the program. The attendees discussed the sustainment services and possible further development of the aircraft, but they have also been introduced to the project of a new military aircraft currently driven by AERO – the L-39NG. For current users of the L-39, AERO offers a smooth transition to the L-39NG conceived as a two-step process starting with the installation of a new engine and optional avionics into existing airframes and followed by the transition to the entirely new L-39NG airframe while using the previously acquired engine and avionics.
The conceptual and strategic approach of the OMNIPOL group is shown by its 50% share in the development of the next generation of the L-39 jet trainer. In this project OMNIPOL acts also as strategic business partner. It is no secret that the aircraft has a very successful past. Since 1971, when the first mass-produced Albatros (L-39 aircraft) was produced, almost 3,000 of them have been exported around the world. OMNIPOL CEO Michal Hon adds, “Business experience, contacts and long-term professional reliability are OMNIPOL’s strategic contributions to the L-39NG project. But they are not the only things. As we really believe in this project, we are contributing half the financing to its development.”
The conference was closed by a ceremony and flight display of aircraft made by Aero, including demonstrator of L-39NG, that has proven successful progress in the development of the new aircraft. Some of the delegations will attend also NATO Days & Czech Air Force Days, the biggest security show in Europe that takes place in Ostrava, Czech Republic on the weekend. Both Aero and OMNIPOL are partners of the show and the L-39NG will be promoted on a static display.

Rising interest of Czech brewing technology and equipment on Russian market as well as a cooperation increase of Czech suppliers of such technology with the company OMNIPOL. This is what the 25th edition of beer festival BEER in Sochi, Russia, was all about.
OMNIPOL has been devoted to the brewing, bottling and packaging technology for nearly quarter of the century now. Since then, the company has given its know-how to nearly 30 breweries and malt-houses in Russia. One of the most significant projects was an implementation of complete malt plant for “Shikhan” in Sterlitamak. Lately, there was realized a big delivery for “Kurskiy Malt” brewery in Kursk. Nowadays, the biggest customers are “Ochakovo” brewery in Moscow and “Gambrinus” brewery in Izhevsk.
The company exhibited along with the Czech leading suppliers of brewing technology – NATE Chotěboř, MOPOS, J. Hradecký Pacov and ProjectSoft. Common stand with the brand new, modern graphic design also visited CEO of the brewery “Kurskiy Malt” Galina Avidonova, who thanked for the realization of implementation of new machines. Representatives of the company “Gambrinus” in Izhevsk then brought to the stand the examples which were made by the delivered Czech machines.
The new graphic design was appreciated by the suppliers as well
We are pleased that several Russian media have informed about the presence of Czech companies, for example magazines Beer and Beverages and Russian Food & Drinks. “More and more often is heard about OMNIPOL as an integrator of Czech brewing technology manufacturers, and many breweries and malt-houses. After nearly 25 years of our cooperation with the Russian market new business possibilities are now ahead,” concludes Jiří Škrabal, Marketing Director of OMNIPOL.
